Perry, Kemp earn Silver on Final Day of #ACCOTF

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Alexis Perry took second in the 100m hurdles, Erika Kemp won silver in the 5,000m race, and a host of other Wolfpack athletes scored points on the final day of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Team Standings:
The women's team finished 7th with 59 points, and the men's team came in 12th with 33 points.
Discus:
SeQuoia Watkins kicked off the final day of competition, finishing fifth in the discus and earning four points for the Wolfpack. Despite battling an illness that caused her to miss the hammer throw on Thursday, the junior managed to have a strong competition, earning second-team All-ACC honors for the Wolfpack. Watkins throw traveled 156'8.00". She is currently in 16th place in the east region and will throw in Jacksonville, Fla.
Nicole Chavis finished in 10th and just a foot away from the finals. Tremanisha Taylor finished 13th in the overall standings. Both are also ranked among the top-48 of the regional standings and aiming to compete at the NCAA East Preliminary.
On the men's side, Jule Rich finished in 11th with a mark of 167'10.00".
Triple Jump:
Javonne Antoine capped off a stellar freshman campaign with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. Antoine earned a valuable point for the women's team, finishing with a mark of 40'2.25".
Amara Bell also had a strong showing in the event, as she took ninth after earning a new personal best of 39'10.50". Bell beat her previous mark by 6.00".
4x100:
The men's 4x100 team of Shannon Patterson, Jonathan Addison, Acey Calhoun and Brian Davis sprinted to a fourth-place finish. The duo earned five points for the men's team. Patterson opened the race with a strong leg, before Davis brought the team home in the final stretch to secure fourth-place.
Paisley Simmons came up big as the anchor leg of the women's 4x100. Despite trailing for much of the race, Simmons powered down the final stretch of the track to overtake heat leaders Syracuse and Louisville.
The Wolfpack finished first in the heat and sixth overall to earn three points for the women's team. Despite entering the competition with the 10th seed, the group managed to shave .66 seconds off their seed time and finish in scoring position with a time of 45.39.
1,500m:
Samantha George scored three points for the women's team in the 1,500m run. George entered the race as the sixth seed and finished sixth with a mark of 4:21.82. Despite starting the race near the back, George slid into the middle of the pack and held off her competitors to earn second team All-ACC honors.
100m Hurdles:
Alexis Perry won her second silver medal of the competition, finishing second in the 100m hurdles. Perry crushed her mark from the preliminary round, crossing the finish line for her second-best time of the season at 13.19.
Perry had a big kick in the final few sets of hurdles to secure her spot on the podium. Perry has scored 16 points alone, winning two silver medals along with two All-ACC first team honors. The junior is heading into the NCAA East Preliminary with two top-15 regional marks.
100m Dash:
Simmons had another come-from-behind victory to earn points for the Wolfpack. The High Point, N.C., native took fourth with a new personal best of 11.57. Simmons has continued to shave time off her 100m mark. She has taken .53 seconds off her mark since the start of the outdoor season, and holds the second-best time in school history.
She also improves her regional mark. While standings won't be final until all the meets across the country are factored in, Simmons has jumped from 64th to 38th in the region.
Jonathan Addison added to his total points haul as he took fourth in men's 100m dash. Addison set a new personal best of 10.44, jumping from 42nd to 35th in regional standings. With the fourth-place finish, Addison has scored 21 points in the competition and adds a second-team All-ACC honor to his impressive meet which includes two silver medals and two first-team All-ACC honors.
800m:
Kenyetta Iyevbele recorded the Pack's fourth-consecutive fourth-place finish of the night. Iyevbele stayed at the front of the Pack for the entire race, crossing the finish line with a new season-best mark of 2:04.07.
The Charlotte, N.C., native blew through her seed time for the second time in as many attempts. Iyevebele recorded a mark of 2:05.16 in the preliminaries. She slashed over a second off of her time, and holds a top-10 of regional mark, as well as a top-15 national mark.
200m:
Simmons sprinted to another fourth-place finish in her third event of the day. The sophomore crossed the finish line in 23.46, posting a .20 improvement from her preliminary heat. Alone, Simmons scored 10 points on the final day of the meet. She also helped her relay team earn an additional three points.
5,000:
Erika Kemp added another silver medal for the Wolfpack. The junior stayed with the front of the pack for the entirety of the race, crossing the finish line in 16:08.97. She made a strong final move, and came just short of taking gold. It was the Pack's second silver medal of the day, and the first from the distance runners. Kemp holds the region's 12th best time in the 5,000m.
Samantha George also placed for the Wolfpack, scoring in her second event of the day. George finished seventh with a time of 16:39.74, picking up two points for to move the women's team up to seventh overall with 59 points. George also holds a regional mark in the event, checking in at sixth.
In the men's 5,000m, Jacob Thomson took third for a spot on the podium. His points helped the men's team jump from 12th (27 points) to 10th (33 points).
Thomson started the race in second, but slipped back to ninth around the middle of the race. With less the four laps remaining, Thomson made his move, jumping back into the front group. On the home stretch, Thomson held onto his place and secured a valuable six points for the Pack. He crossed the finish line in 14:03.52.
Sebastian Hanson (14:36.45) and Bakri Abushouk (14:40.40) also had strong races. The duo finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
4x400:
The men's 4x400 team took third in the heat with a time of 3:11.46. The group stayed near the front of the race, before Will Krehnbrink overtook third place and blew past Virginia Tech. The team entered as the 10th seed, and finished 9th overall.
