RALEIGH, N.C. – A strong offensive attack from the Miami Hurricanes helped the squad earn a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) win against NC State Sunday afternoon inside Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack falls to 13-10 on the season, including a 2-9 mark in ACC action. Meanwhile, Miami improves to 15-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
Bunn’s Beat
Opening statement…
“We were in the match at the beginning of every set and then they would just go on runs,” said head coach Bryan Bunn. “We didn’t have the energy and the fight that we needed today as a team.”
On Miami’s offensive attack…
“We talked about how they’re going to get up and kill balls and our defense has to be there. We hit balls hard at them in practice, but we just didn’t have any heart defensively.”
On Miami’s serving…
“We need to do a better job tracking the ball. The balls hit the floor two feet in front of us, so our passers have to track the ball and get their feet to the spot better. If we don’t it starts getting tight and our vision starts to break down.”

- The Wolfpack opened the match with a quick 8-4 run fueled by three kills and a block from Dariyan Hopper to force a Miami timeout. The Hurricanes rallied to tie the score at 19, before winning the frame, 25-21. Hopper led the Pack in kills in the frame with six.
- Miami opened the second set with a 9-5 lead before the Wolfpack captured six-of-seven points to take an 11-10 advantage. The two teams traded points until the Hurricanes took a 21-19 lead. Thoughts on the match…
“I think offensively they have a really fast offense, which is often times hard for our defense and is one of the things we struggled with. Offensively for us I think we did a pretty good job. I think it came down to serving tough and getting them out of system because when you have a team that has a fast offense you have to try and get them out of system.”
