Hoyas Beat Softball

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State (10-8) fell to Georgetown (6-6), 8-2, at the Wolfpack Challenge on Saturday, March 6. Landon Warren went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored, while Stephanie Call added two hits.
Morgan Peeler (1-5) was hit with the loss, while Mackensey Carter (2-2) picked up the decision.
Kristi Preuss put the Hoyas up 2-0 in the top of the first with a two-run homer after Samantha Peters reached on a walk.
Georgetown padded its lead with two more runs in the top of the second on an infield throwing error and an RBI single from Peters.
The Pack trimmed Georgetown’s lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the third. Warren led off with a base hit and took second on an Alyssa Ishibashi sac-bunt. Call later singled, and Warren was able to score on an errant relay throw from left field.
The Hoyas moved its lead to 7-1 in the top of the fifth. Kelsie Hanson added an RBI single while a dropped fly ball allowed two more runs to score.
An Ishibashi sac-fly made it 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth, plating Warren who doubled and took third on a passed ball.
Peters added another run for Georgetown with an RBI single in the top of the sixth.
NC State will stay on the field to immediately face Stony Brook.
