
Freshman Marchand Sits in Eighth at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After Friday's first-round action at the Tar Heel Invitational at UNC's Finley Golf Course, freshman Brittany Marchand sits in eighth place after shooting a 2-under 70. As a team, the Wolfpack posted a score of 14-over 302, and is in 18th place.
Marchand's round featured a team-high three birdies and just one hole over-par. She started off strong, going 2-under on her opening nine holes, with back-to-back birdies right before the turn.
A total of 16 of the 18 team in the star-studded field are ranked in the top 44 nationally, including five teams ranked in the top 10.

No. 3 Alabama leads the field at 11-under 277, while No. 1 LSU is in second at three-under 285. They were the only two schools to finish under par on the day.
Senior Brooke Baker and freshman Ana Menendez both shot a four-over 76. Baker had and eagle on the par-5 No. 13 and finished her round by going even-par on her final nine holes.
Rounding out the Pack's lineup, freshman Maureen Dunnagan shot an 8-over 80, while sophomore Amanda Baker had a 9-over 81.
Alabama's Brooke Pancake, the nation's fifth-ranked golfer, had an impressive round of 7-under 65 to lead the field after 18 holes.
