Women's Golf Tied for 10th at Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. – The NC State women’s golf team is tied for 10th after two rounds of the Cougar Classic at Yeaman’s Hall Golf Club.
Playing in her first tournament at NC State, junior transfer Brooke Baker was the top golfer today for the Wolfpack by tying for 17th through 36 holes at (+1) 71-74=145. She was tied for 10th after shooting a one-under 71 during the morning round.
Sophomore Meghan Chapman is tied for 32nd at +4 after rounds of 72-76=148. Her morning round featured three birdies and three bogeys for an even-par 72. In the afternoon the Seminole, Fla, native had three more birdies, but a double bogey at No. 17 set her back to a four-over 76.
Senior Emily Street is tied for 52nd at +7 with rounds of 79-72=151. A mediocre seven-over 79 was followed by a steady afternoon even-par round of 72 with three birdies.
Senior Kathleen Strandberg fired two rounds of five-over 77 and is tied for 63rd at +10 (77-77=154). The native of Greensboro, N.C., had four birdies on the day to highlight her effort.
Raleigh native Julie Saleeby is tied for 68th at +11. She shot rounds of 75-80=155. He morning round was a consistent one with just three bogeys and 15 pars. Her afternoon round was a little bumpy with three birdies, but eight bogeys and a triple left her with an 80.
Florida State’s Lacey Agnew leads the field at –8 (136). She set a tournament record with a seven-under 65 in the afternoon round.
Georgia leads the team standings at –13 (563), followed by Florida State and Furman at –1 (575).
There were two hole-in-ones: Furman's Jackie Hilea posted one during the first round on hole 16. USF's Ana Joaquina hit one during the second round on hole six.
The final round takes place on Tuesday.
