
Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. Lauren Doughtie and Stephanie Derrey placed in the top-20 to lead the NC State women’s golf team to finish 10th at the 2008 Bryan National Collegiate.
The Wolfpack tied for the fourth best round of the day on Sunday with a +22 (310), moving up from beginning the day in 13th among the strong 18-team field that featured 15 clubs ranked in the top-50 nationally by Golfstat.
NC State finished the 54-hole tournament at the Players Course at +70 (302-322-310=934).
Doughtie posted her second straight top-10 finish as she fired a final round one-over 73. Todays round featured three birdies and four bogeys. She finished tied for 8th overall at +9 (70-82-73=225), her fifth time top-10 career finish.
Senior Stephanie Derrey put together back-to-back steady rounds on Friday and Saturday, but struggled with a +8 (80) today to finish tied for 15th +12 (73-75-80=228). It was her ninth top-20 finish of her four-year career.
Derrey bogeyed her first hole of the day, the par-4 13th and never got on track the rest of the way as she put up two doubles and three other bogeys.
Sophomore Emily Street recovered from consecutive rounds in the 80’s with a one-over 73 on Sunday to finish up tied for 56th at +23 (80-86-73=239). Street had three birdies on her round to move up 22 places after starting the day tied for 78th.
Joanna Saleeby shot a +12 (84) on Sunday to finish tied for 76th at +30 (83-79-84=246).
Younger sister Julie Saleeby struggled for a second-straight day with a +14 (86) to finish tied for 84th at +37 (79-88-86=253).
Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis only shot a +5 (77) on Sunday but was still good enough to earn medilist honors at even-par (216) for the tournament, one shot better than Duke’s Amanda Blumenhurst.
Florida (906) won the team title by two strokes over Duke (908), while Auburn (909) was third
