
Ballerano Tied For 11th After First Round

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - Lorraine Ballerano shot three over par in the first round of the Papa John's Collegiate to lead the NC State women's golf team Sunday. Ballerano is tied for 11th place and trails the leader by only three strokes. The Wolfpack is in 10th place after 18 holes at Don Shula's par 72 Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Fla.
Fellow senior co-captain Molly Birmingham trails Ballerano by two strokes and is tied for 25th place. Sophomores Lauren Harling and Stephanie Derrey carded seven over scores in the first round and are tied for 39th place. Nancy Mountcastle is also competing for the Wolfpack, as well as Lauren Doughtie and Jessica Vincent, who are playing as individuals.
The College of Charleston leads the 12-team field at 11-over in the frist round. Amanda Mathis from Mississippi State and South Florida's Christina Jones are tied for first place at even par.
