
Track Competes at Georgia Tech Invite

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field team was back in action this past weekend, competing in the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta. NC State brought home a total of 11 NCAA Regional marks, two first pace finishes, and one new school record. The Wolfpack is preparing for the NCAA Regional Championships set for May 28-29 in Gainesville, Fla., and this past weekend's meet was the final tune-up.
The women's 4x100 meter relay squad once again broke their own school record this past weekend. The team of Felicia Fant, Courtney Patterson, Ebony Foster and Joya Rodgers turned in a time of 44.63 for third place, good for a NCAA Regional time. Both Fant and Foster recorded NCAA Regional times in the sprints too, Fant in the 100 meters (11.69 for fourth) and Foster in the 100 meter hurdles (12.98).
All five of the Pack's distance runners came away from Georgia Tech with NCAA Regional times as well. Lucinda Hull won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with her time of 10:19.01. Also in that race, Kristina Roth placed second (10:31.16) and Claudin Hull was fifth (10:46.04). In the 1,500 meters, it was Julia Lucas in eighth (4:19.66) and Renee Gunning in 17th (4:27.38).
On the men's side, both throwers came away with NCAA Regional marks. James Rowell won the discus with a top heave of 178'02", while Mitchell Pope recorded a top throw of 54'11.50" in the shot put for eighth. Andy Smith notched a NCAA Regional time by running a 3:44.46 in the 1,500 meters for ninth place. Also in that race, Bobby Mack placed 25th (3:50.46).
