Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

Ponte Vedra, Fla. - Junior Fernando Mechereffe finished tied for seventh at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship with a final round 70. Mechereffe, from Pelotas, Brazil, finished at two-under-par for the tournament at 73-71-70=214. Justin Walters, a 2002 All-American from South Africa, finished tied for 18th at 218 after a final round 75. Walters fired rounds of 70 and 73 yesterday at the Sawgrass Country Club.
Freshman Stephen Lewton finished his first collegiate tournament tied for 37th with a 75-73-74=222 performance. Sophomore Sutton Barbrey also carded a tournament total 222, with rounds of 70-76-76. Jason Moon finished tied for 67th after a 76-76-80=232.
NC State travels to Puerto Rico on the 23rd.
