Gymnastics Scores 195.050 in Win

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team scored a season-high 195.050 and defeated visiting Kent State and George Washington Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack (4-1) won three events on the night, topping 49.000 on both bars and floor as well.
NC State scored its top score on bars, a 49.275. Senior Marlyn Madey and sophomore Kelley Kello tied for first place each scoring a 9.925, career-highs for both. Junior Leah Sabo scored a 9.875 to finish in third place. Junior Cheryl Potacco and freshman Kylah Bachman each scored a 9.775 and tied for fifth.
NC State also scored well on floor, finishing with a team score of 49.225. Sophomore Cori Goldstein finished in a tie for first place with her score of 9.9. Senior Cara Dougherty was close behind in third with a 9.875, and Sabo took fourth with a 9.85. Kello placed fifth with a 9.825, and Madey was ninth (9.775).
On beam, Bachman won her first event title with a score of 9.875. Goldstein posted her second top finish, this time taking second with a 9.85. Kello and Dougherty both tied for seventh with a 9.775.
Sabo was NC State's top finisher on vault, scoring a 9.7 to place second. Junior Molly Pennington was fourth with a 9.65, and Potacco took 11th with a 9.575.
For the third straight meet, Sabo finished in the top-two in the all-around, scoring a season-high 38.825 for second place tonight.
NC State will be on the road next weekend with a meet at Auburn. The Wolfpack's next home meet will be February 8, when NC State hosts Maryland, North Carolina and Towson in the Governor's Cup.
