Wolfpack Win Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational

W. Springs, Fla.- Down by three strokes to the University of Miami after day one, the NC State women's golf team shot a team score of 293 today, and won the Spalding/Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational with a total of 601, beating Miami by nine shots (610). Malin Claesson , who shot a 77 yesterday and was tied for 13th place, was the only golfer under par today, shooting a 71 and finishing tied for second place with a two-day total of 148. Colby Cobb (150), Erica Wein (151) and Sarah Bonner (152) all finished in the top 20. Claesson, Cobb, and Wein shot significantly better today, while Bonner remained even.
The difference between yesterday and today is that NC State was -13 as a team today while, Miami was +2. Cobb and Wein both lowered their scores from the first day, Cobb shooting a 76 yesterday and lowering to a 74 today, while Wein's margin was the greatest, shooting a 79 yesterday and an even par 72 today. Bonner remained even at 76.
The Wolfpack won their second straight team tournament title and the third in school history. Claesson set the school record round of 70 at last weeks Lady Moc Invivtational and her 71 in the final round today is tied for the second best round in school history.
Next up for the Wolfpack will be the Lady Seahawk Invitational in Wallace March 25.
