DALLAS, TX - NC State's defense kept the Wolfpack within striking distance throughout the match, but SMU broke through in the second half to hand the Wolfpack a 1-0 defeat Friday night.

The Wolfpack's defense stood strong in the first half, denying multiple SMU scoring opportunities in the penalty area.

Goalkeeper Samuel Terranova came up big in the first half, making three saves on three shots on goal. It marked the second time this season he has recorded three saves in a single half.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes, sending the match into halftime deadlocked at 0-0.

SMU broke through in the 64th minute, finding the back of the net just one minute after a free kick.

NC State was unable to find an equalizer in the remaining 26 minutes of the match.

The Mustangs finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots and held a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. The Wolfpack, however, finished with five saves compared to SMU's two.

Brandon Bent also earned the first starting nod of his collegiate career.
