Pack Opens ACC Play with Top-20 Draw at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - NC State women's soccer played No. 18 Florida State to a 2-2 draw at Seminole Soccer Complex on Friday night in the team's ACC opener. Erica Roberts and Daisy Duda provided scores for the Wolfpack in the first game of league play.

With the draw, the Wolfpack remain unbeaten on the season at 7-0-2.

Roberts gave the Pack an early lead less than two minutes into the match, striking a left-footed shot from outside the box to put her team up 1-0.

Wrianna Hudson found an equalizer for the Seminoles in the 22nd minute with a header in the box that found the back of the net past Riley Pickels.

The teams went into halftime tied at one goal apiece, with the Wolfpack leading in shots, 7-4, and taking five corners while allowing FSU none.

Coming out of the locker room, Duda broke the tie with a 58th-minute go-ahead score. The sophomore capitalized on a misplay by an FSU player in the box, sending a line drive into the top-left corner of the net to put the Pack ahead, 2-1.

The Wolfpack lead did not last long, though, as the Seminoles found an equalizer in the 65th minute from Shaneil Buckley.

The teams traded opportunities for the remainder of the contest, but neither could find the game-winner as the Wolfpack earned a share of the points with the Seminoles, opening ACC play with a top-20 draw.

The Pack finished the night outshooting the Seminoles, 13-7, while taking eight total corners and allowing FSU none.

Of Note:

Roberts' goal was the fourth of her season and the fifth of her career.
Duda's score was the second of the season and the second of her career.
NC State has now earned draws against the Seminoles in back-to-back seasons, marking the first time since 1999 and 2000 that the Wolfpack has drawn against FSU in consecutive seasons.
Pickels finished the game with three saves in her first career ACC contest.
Tonight's result marks the first time since 2022 that NC State has earned a draw or win in its ACC opener.
With tonight's draw, the Pack remains unbeaten at 7-0-2.
