RALEIGH N.C. - Jade Bordeleau recorded her second career hat trick, bringing her season goal total to eight through six games, as NC State women's soccer dominated Davidson, 6-1, on Sunday evening at Dail Soccer Stadium. The Wolfpack's six goals marked its most in a single game since Oct. 4, 2018, and the most in a game under second-year head coach Gary Higgins.

With Sunday's win, NC State improved to 6-0 for the first time since 2008 and surpassed its win total from a season ago in Higgins' first campaign in Raleigh.

Madison Casteen got the scoring started early for the Pack, finding the back of the net just two minutes and 17 seconds into the contest. After Bordeleau's shot was blocked by a Davidson defender, she fed the ball to Casteen in the box, and the freshman buried it into the bottom-left corner of the net.

The Wolfpack held a 1-0 lead for much of the first half before Bordeleau doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Mary Frances Symmes and Erica Roberts assisted on the goal, which opened the floodgates for NC State as the Pack added another two more goals over the final 12 minutes of the half.

Carly Montgomery continued the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal similar to her score in NC State's previous match at High Point. The senior headed home a corner kick from Mana Nakata into the left side of the goal.

Yuna Aoki added the final goal of the first half in the 41st minute, firing a shot from outside the left side of the box to give NC State a 4-0 advantage heading into halftime. Montgomery provided the assist on the play.

NC State continued its scoring barrage early in the second half as Bordeleau added two more goals to complete her hat trick, the first by a Wolfpack player since Sept. 15, 2024, when she recorded her first career three-goal performance.

Her second goal of the evening came in the 50th minute after Roberts' shot was saved by Davidson's goalkeeper. Bordeleau collected the rebound and buried it for her second brace of the season. She completed the hat trick in the 58th minute off an assist from Madie Miller, redirecting Miller's cross with her right foot for an impressive finish.

Davidson spoiled the Wolfpack's shutout bid in the 71st minute when Caitlin Burke found the back of the net, but that was all the Wildcats could muster as NC State went on to secure the 6-1 victory.

Riley Pickels earned her fourth win of the season in goal, recording three saves. The Wolfpack defense held Davidson to just six total shots and two corner kicks in the win.

Of Note:

Bordeleau's hat trick was the second of her career and the first for the Wolfpack since Sept. 15, 2024, when she recorded her first three-goal game against George Washington. She finished the night with a career-best seven points on three goals and one assist.
With two career hat tricks, Bordeleau is the only NC State player to record a three-goal outing since Tziarra King did so in 2019.
Bordeleau now has a team-high eight goals this season. She also recorded her first assist of the year and the fourth of her career.
Casteen scored the second goal of her career in her first collegiate start.
Montgomery's goal was her second in an NC State uniform and her sixth career goal. She has now scored in back-to-back matches.
Aoki's goal was her second of the season and third of her career.
Miller and Roberts each recorded their first assists of the season. Miller's helper marked the first point of her collegiate career.
Montgomery and Symmes each added their second assist of the season, while Nakata recorded her third.
Kennedy Eva-Buckner made her collegiate debut in the victory.
The win marked NC State's sixth victory of the season, surpassing its win total from a season ago.
The Wolfpack is 6-0 to start a season for the first time since 2008. The team's current six-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest winning streak in program history.
NC State scored six goals in a game for the first time since Oct. 4, 2018. The Pack have now scored 22 goals in six games to start the season, the most through six contests since 2010.
The victory marked Higgins' 11th win as NC State's head coach and the 121st of his coaching career.
