No. 2 Wolfpack Rallies Past Queens for First Win of 2026 Season

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's soccer secured the first win of the season, scoring two goals in the second half to beat Queens 2-1, Sunday evening at Dail Soccer Field.
The Wolfpack improved to 1-0-1 on the season with the victory.
Despite controlling much of the opening half with 11 shots, NC State entered the break trailing 1-0 after Queens scored in the 22nd minute.
The Wolfpack outshot the Royals 11-2 in the first half and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn't find the equalizer before halftime.
In the 52nd minute, Tyler Caton leveled the match with a goal off an assist from Caden Tolentino and Adrià Muños.
The Wolfpack secured the win in the 72nd minute when Russell Berko found the back of the net for his first goal as a member of the Pack. Aidan Payne provided the assist on the game-winning goal.
NC State controlled the action throughout the match, finishing with a 21-3 advantage in shots, including 5-1 in shots on goal and earning 12 corner kicks to Queens' two. The Wolfpack also held 61% of possession.
Matheus Rhormens earned the win in goal, playing all 90 minutes in the victory against his previous school. Caton led NC State with five shots, while Berko and Riley Moloney each recorded multiple attempts.
Rhormens earned his first start in the red and white. Brandon Bent and Muñoz both took to the field for the first time as members of the Wolfpack.
UP NEXT
The Pack will hit the road and continue its season campaign, playing two games in Florida, against Florida International on the 27th and Florida Atlantic on the 30th.
