RALEIGH, N.C. – After a four-game road trip, No. 14 NC State returns to Doak Field for a midweek game against Campbell tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24, at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACCNX.
It will be the second Dollar Dog Night of the season, giving Pack fans a chance to enjoy $1 hot dogs throughout the game.
The Wolfpack aims to get back in the win column after losing its last two games to Florida State over the weekend. Campbell will be the fourth in-state opponent the Pack has faced this season. They are 2-1, having beaten Queens and UNCW and lost to Elon.
Just 30 miles separate the two schools, and Tuesday's meeting will be the third consecutive year the Fighting Camels have traveled to Raleigh. Last season, the Pack defeated Campbell in seven innings, 11-1, while in 2024, Campbell won 11-7 in 12 innings. Over the last 10 meetings, Campbell holds the edge with a 6-4 record.
These two programs first faced each other in 1971 under head coach Sam Esposito. The Wolfpack has a record of 54-21-1 in the series.
This will be the first night game of the season at Doak, and only the third. The Pack is 2-0 in night games, coming with a run-rule win over UNCW and the series opener against Florida State.
After dominating its opponents seven times so far this season, the Wolfpack experienced its first run-rule loss when Florida State beat NC State 15-5 on Sunday in seven innings. NC State had 10 run-rule victories in 2025. The Pack has already had seven such wins despite winning eight games by 10 or more runs. The Wolfpack had been run-ruled four times last season.
Luke Nixon is coming off a strong series against the Seminoles, where he posted a team-high .571 batting average with eight hits and four RBIs. Nixon is batting .402 for the season, ranking 12th in the ACC. His 35 hits are tied for the team lead, and he has scored a team-best 29 runs.
Nixon is one of three Pack players with multiple-hit games in double digits. Chris McHugh leads the Wolfpack with 12, Rett Johnson has 11, and Nixon has 10. McHugh is the only Pack player with double-digit RBI games, totaling 10.
Sherman Johnson has reached base in 18 straight games for the longest streak on the team this season.
Ty Head brings power and speed to the Wolfpack lineup. He leads the team with a career-high eight home runs and 15 stolen bases. After his freshman season, where he was sixth in program history for walks in a season, he continues to be tough at the plate as he is the hardest batter to strike out in the ACC.
The Pack is 16-0 when leading after the sixth inning. Not only have Pack starters gone deep into games, but the Wolfpack bullpen has successfully held leads. The latest example came from Anderson Nance, who helped secure a win at Florida State after pitching three innings, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and earning his second career save.
As a team, the Wolfpack offense ranks consistently among the top 20 in the nation in several categories, including a batting average of .332 (12th), 231 runs scored (11th), 259 hits (20th), and 41 home runs (18th).
