RALEIGH – 20th-ranked NC State men's tennis defeated 15th-ranked Notre Dame Sunday afternoon in a thriller secured by Ainius Sabaliauskas.

Once again, the Pack came out on top after doubles action by winning on courts one and three while also carrying a lead on court two. Cody Benton and Ainius Sabaliauskas led the way with a 6-2 victory on three that was quickly followed by Martin Borisiouk and Jules Leroux on court one. As a duo, Borisiouk and Leroux picked up another ranked win together, taking down 52nd-ranked Sebastian Dominko and Peter Nad 6-4.

Jules Leroux cruised through his match on court three in two sets to put the Pack up 2-0 before the Pack lost the next three matches on courts five, one, and six.

97th-ranked William Manning held an impressive effort on court two battling through the first set tiebreaker to win and give momentum to his second set over 73rd-ranked Perry Gregg. Manning commanded the second set 6-2 to put the team score at three each.

All eyes came down to Sabaliauskas on court four who had already dropped his first set 5-7 and was going to have to stay alive in the second to even give the Pack a chance. Sabaliauskas stopped two match points in the second set to force a tiebreaker that he ended up claiming. The third set was back and forth in the beginning before the Wolfpack freshman put more emphasis on his strong serve that provided vital points. He began to break away from Notre Dame's Peter Nad and clinch the top-15 victory for the red-and-white.

The win improves the squad to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the ACC with its highest-ranked win of the season and 10th victory in a row.

Up Next
The Pack remains home next weekend to host No. 2 Virginia on Friday evening and Virginia Tech on Sunday. Senior Martin Borisiouk will be recognized on Sunday.
