RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 10 NC State Baseball is prepared to start ACC play this weekend as the Wolfpack gets ready to face Boston College in a three-game series beginning March 13th at 3 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ACCNX and can be heard on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity Network app.
The Wolfpack opens conference play with a 14-3 record and will conclude an 18-game home stand against the Eagles, who enter the series at 10-6 and 2-1 in conference play.
NC State is coming off its first midweek loss of the season after falling 2-0 to Elon. This is only the second time this season the Wolfpack has been shut out and the first time since 2016 that they have been shut out twice within their first 17 games.
Probable Starting Pitchers:
Friday: LHP Ryan Marohn (NCSU) vs. A.J. Colarusso (BC)
Saturday: RHP Jacob Dudan (NCSU) vs. Tyler Mudd (BC)
Sunday: TBA (NCSU) vs. Brady Miller (BC)
In 2024, Boston College visited Raleigh and saw the Wolfpack sweep the Eagles. The Wolfpack is 8-2 in the last 10 matchups with Boston College. NC State leads the series 37-18 and is 19-9 at Doak Field.
Ryan Marohn will return to the mound after missing last week's start against Lafayette. Marohn is 2-0 this season with a 1.32 ERA in 13.2 innings, with 20 strikeouts and six walks. Both Marohn and Jacob Dudan were named to the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year watch list earlier this week.
Dudan has contributed to the Wolfpack's pitching staff with a 4-0 record and a 1.11 ERA. Dudan ranks second in the ACC with 33 strikeouts after recording three consecutive games with double-digit punch outs. He is one of 21 players nationally with four wins.
Earlier this season, head coach Elliott Avent moved into third place among active Division 1 head coaches in 2026 with the most wins and passed Jim Morris for the fourth most wins in the ACC after two wins in Puerto Rico to start the season. Avent has won 413 ACC games at NC State, the most by any Wolfpack head coach during their tenure.
Avent's 413 ACC wins are the third most by a coach, only behind Danny Hall at Georgia Tech (497) and Mike Martin at Florida State (506).
Along with a pitching staff that maintains a 2.87 ERA, which ranks second in the ACC and 10th nationally, the Wolfpack features the country's sixth-best batting average at .346, just behind Georgia Tech. NC State is the only program ranked in the top 10 in both categories.
The team is also among the best nationwide in multiple categories, including home runs (6th), scoring (5th), slugging percentage (4th), and sacrifice flies (2nd).
With 45 stolen bases, the Wolfpack has exceeded its total from last season within the first 13 games. The most stolen bases by a Wolfpack team came in 2013, when they swiped 110 bases. Since 2021, the Wolfpack hasn't stolen over 50 bases in a season.
