
Pack Finishes in Ninth Place at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The NC State men's golf team closed the three-day General Hackler Championship on Tuesday afternoon with a ninth-place finish.
The 16-team event held at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club was won by Auburn by 17 shots over second-place Louisville.
For the third time in six team events this season, Joey Lenane led the Pack's effort.
Lenane was the Pack's low scorer in two of the three rounds in Myrtle Beach. He opened with an even-par 72, before firing a three-under par 69 in the second round. He closed the event with a 73 to finish the event at two-under par in a tie for 18th place out of 90 golfers.
Lenane has now played 11 of 18 rounds this season at even or below par and has finished in the top-20 in five of six events.
Next for the Pack was Michael Vick in a tie for 28th place, three shots back of Lenane. Vick bounced back from a tough first round to shoot a 69 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the final round.
Hunter Stetson was next in a tie for 57th place. The NC State freshman shot an even-par 72 in the first round before a 77 and 75 in the final two rounds of the event.
Nick Mathews finished in a tie for 63rd place, one shot back of Stetson. Mathews improved by four shots every round of the event to move up the leaderboard.
Xander Goboy rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 69th place, two shots back of Mathews.
NC State returns to action on Sunday when it begins play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
