
NC State Prepares for ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State will begin its postseason slate at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 1-3 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky. All three days will stream on ACC Network Extra.

PACK IN POLLS
The women's team is ranked 25th in the nation. Grace Hartman ran the third-fastest mile in NCAA history at the Boston University Valentine Invitational (4:24.76) and currently sits at No. 2 in the nation for the mile. NC State's women's DMR team set a new program record last Saturday at the Boston University DMR Challenge. Their time of 10:48.51 is the fastest in program history and is ranked 10th nationally. Grace Hartman is also ranked 5th in the nation for the 5000m (15:12.73).
Other top-20 rankings include Grace Hartman, 14th in the 3000m (8:46.57), and Hannah Gapes, 18th in the 3000m (8:51.19). In the high jump, CJ McBride is ranked 19th with a clearance of 2.19m.
LAST TIME OUT
The women's DMR team of Hannah Gapes, Jordyn Parker, Brooke Rauber, and Grace Hartman set a new program record with a time of 10:48.51, finishing fifth at the Terrier DMR Challenge in Boston. At the Virginia Tech Challenge, Sydney Freeman secured her second podium finish of the season, placing second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.58 meters (60 feet, 11.5 inches). Natalie Griffith finished fifth with a personal-best mark of 15.77 meters (51 feet, 9 inches). Jakerra Covington and Olivia Vaughan each recorded personal bests in the shot put, with Covington placing fifth at 11.68 meters (38 feet, 4 inches) and Vaughan finishing seventh at 9.83 meters (32 feet, 3 inches).
On the men's side, Tony Taylor II secured his first podium finish of the season in the weight throw, placing second with a mark of 17.07 meters (56 feet, 0 inches). He also earned a personal best in the shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 14.88 meters (48 feet, 10 inches). NC State had a strong showing in the long jump, with Elyssia Fisher earning her first podium finish as a member of the Wolfpack, placing second with a jump of 5.75 meters (18 feet, 10.5 inches). Chazmin Johnson (5.56 meters, 18 feet, 3 inches) finished fourth, and Mariama Hunt (5.44 meters, 17 feet, 10.25 inches) placed fifth.
McKenna Moritz secured her first podium finish in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches) to win the event. Teammate Jenna Barnes also reached the podium, placing third with a clearance of 1.55 meters (5 feet, 1 inch). Covington achieved a season-best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.07 seconds.
At the USATF Indoor Championships, Pack Pro Cameron Murray set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 7.41 seconds. His performance earned him a spot on Team USA for the second consecutive year at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China. Charles McBride finished sixth in the high jump at the USATF Indoor Championships with a clearance of 2.12 meters (6 feet, 11.5 inches), while Sam Bush recorded a personal best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:11.37.
