COLUMBUS, Ga. – Marie Eline Madsen of the NC State women's golf team has earned a spot on the ANNIKA Award Final Fall Watch List presented by Stifel, as announced on Tuesday. Madsen is one of 25 on the list.
Madsen is coming off a stellar fall, leading the team in scoring average with a 70.67 mark with eight rounds at par or better and five rounds in the 60s. She logged three top 10 finishes, which were also top five showings. Madsen began the season by winning the Cougar Classic for her third career win behind a school record 15-under 198 (69-67-62). The 198 marked the first sub-200 score in school history. Her 62 in the final round marked a career-low score in a round.
The Denmark native also placed third at the Ruth's Chris Invitational with a 3-under 207 (67-70-70) and tied for fifth at the Inverness Intercollegiate. Masen is currently No. 24 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and No. 12 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Ranking. She was given Golfweek Preseason All-America Third Team honors.
During her freshman season, Madsen broke the school record for lowest scoring average in a season (71.23) and recorded 22 rounds at par or better, 11 rounds in the 60s and eight top 10 finishes with 11 top 20 outings. Madsen was tabbed a WGCA Second Team All-America choice, becoming the first player in school history to earn All-America first or second team honors, as well as Golfweek All-America Third Team honors and an All-ACC Women's Golf Team nod.
Madsen and the Pack will be back in action in January at the Collegiate Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club from January 30-31.
