RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's soccer (5-8-4, 4-3-2 ACC) fell to No. 7 Duke (11-3-1, 6-3-0 ACC), 3-1, on Sunday night at Dail Soccer Stadium in its final regular-season home match of the 2025 campaign. In the loss, Jade Bordeleau scored her 10th goal of the season while goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas recorded a career-high 16 saves.
The opening minutes were played largely in the midfield before the Wolfpack were forced to play a player down for the remainder of the match following a red card issued to Alex Mohr in the 13th minute.
Duke controlled much of the offensive flow for the rest of the half, outshooting NC State 10-3. Pratapas made several key saves to keep the Pack within striking distance, but the Blue Devils broke through in the 42nd minute on a goal from Farrah Walters to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Bordeleau was active throughout the opening frame, creating NC State's best scoring opportunities with a pair of first-half shots, including a strike in the 36th minute that was saved by Duke goalkeeper Caroline Dysart.
The Pack found its equalizer early in the second half as Bordeleau netted her 10th goal of the season in the 52nd minute, finishing a corner kick service from Mana Nakata. The tie was short-lived, however, as Duke's Mia Minestrella reclaimed the lead just eight seconds later with a goal to make it 2-1. The Blue Devils added an insurance tally in the 60th minute from Devin Lynch to push the margin to 3-1, a score that would hold for the remainder of the match.
Despite being outshot 25-7, Pratapas anchored the Pack defense with a career-best 16 saves, surpassing her previous high of nine stops set a season ago.
Of Note:
- With her 10th goal of the season, Bordeleau became NC State's first player to record double-digit goals in a single campaign since Tziarra King netted 13 in 2019.
- Pratapas' 16 saves marked a new personal best for the goalkeeper, as her standout performance limited Duke to just three goals and a 0.120 shooting percentage despite the Blue Devils holding a 25-7 advantage in shots.
- Nakata's assist was her fourth of the season.
- The loss moves the Pack to 11-26-4 in the all-time series against Duke.
- NC State finishes its 2025 home slate with a 2-5-1 record.
