
Pair of Seniors Lead Pack in Four Set Win Over Clemson for Annual Pink Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – Seniors Courtney Bryant and Lily Cropper led the Wolfpack with a combined 23 kills in the four-set win over Clemson Friday evening for the program's annual pink match.
After dropping the first set, 21-25, the Pack dominated through the final three frames.
NC State took an 8-3 lead to begin the second set to force an early Clemson timeout. After the Wolfpack scored four more unanswered points, the Tigers used its final timeout in hopes of slowing the Pack but came up short.
Cropper led the squad with three kills and just as many blocks to give NC State the set, 25-12. The Wolfpack hit a team best .483 in the second set while holding Clemson to a -0.032 hitting percentage.
The Tigers kept the third set close to start but an 8-2 scoring run allowed the Wolfpack to take a seven-point lead (20-13). The Pack used another scoring run to close out the set on top, 25-17.
Freshman opposite Jordan Smith was a force in the third set as she tallied two blocks and just as many kills to help the Pack claim the 2-1 lead.
The fourth set was a battle between the two programs as the frame was tied on nine different occasions with four lead changes. Cropper and junior Clara Vondran combined for six kills as the Wolfpack took set three, 25-17, and took the match, 3-1.
Bryant added 13 digs to her stat line to pick up her eighth double-double of the season. Redshirt-junior Elaisa Villar led the setters with 30 assists and half as many digs to pick up her eighth double-double. Freshman middle blocker Talia Francom tallied eight blocks to lead the defensive efforts at the net.
The 3-1 win marks the third in conference play for NC State this season and 10th overall. It was also the 827th win in program history and the 217th conference win.
