
Women’s Basketball Hosts High Point for Free Exhibition

RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team will host High Point for an exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 18 with a 7 p.m. tipoff at Kay Yow Court inside Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.
Admission is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The game will not be streamed on television or a radio broadcast. Fans can park for free at the Coliseum Deck.
SCOUTING NC STATE
- Head coach Wes Moore is in his 13th season at the helm leading the Pack
- As the leading coach in winning percentage and second winningest coach in NC State history, Coach Moore has accumulated a .760 winning percentage with a 301-95 record, as well as 859-264 mark as a head coach
- NC State kept its solid core of returners with rising sophomores Lorena Awou, Zamareya Jones, Devyn Quigley and 2025 ACC All-Freshman Team recipient Tilda Trygger. Rising juniors Mallory Collier, Maddie Cox and 2025 ACC All-ACC First Team recipient and ACC Most Improved Player Zoe Brooks are also primed for big seasons
- Coach Moore brought in two transfers with 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball champion Qadence Samuels from UConn and standout power forward Khamil Pierre via Vanderbilt
- The Pack brought in the No. 25 top recruiting class, according to ESPN, with No. 65, four-star recruit Destiny "Ky'She" Lunan from Goodyear, Arizona and No. 68 Adelaide Jernigan from Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- The Pack has one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, as NC State's opponents have an average 2024-25 NET ranking of 73.6, which is the second best in the ACC. NC State is one of two ACC schools with that average ranking being less than 100
- The team was ranked No. 9 in the AP Preseason Poll for its fifth top 10 projection in the past six seasons
- NC State had two recipients on the All-ACC Preseason Team with Brooks and Pierre. Brooks received the second most votes among all-conference recipients, as well as three first-place votes, coming off a 2024-25 season having averaged 14.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Pierre averaged 20.4 points off 49.8 percent shooting, 9.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game
- NC State was projected to finish second in the ACC Preseason Poll, receiving 25 first-place votes
2024-25 Season Recap
- The Pack finished 28-7 last season with an ACC Co-Regular Season Championship, marking the program's 33rd 20+ win season of all time, 11th such season in the Wes Moore era. This marked the 10th straight 20+ win season, the program's longest streak (all under the Moore era)
- NC State's 25+ win season marked the 15th in program history and seventh in the Moore tenure
- The Pack earned its seventh ACC Regular Season Championship, which marked the second in the Coach Moore era. With a 16-2 league mark, NC State shared the regular season title with Notre Dame and owning the tiebreaker, the Pack earned the No. 1 seed at the ACC Tournament
- NC State started the season 4-3 and went 24-4 in its final 28 games. With the third best NET opponent ranking in the country of 64, the Pack endured one of the toughest schedules in the country and picked up six ranked wins, including over No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 10 Duke, No. 14 North Carolina and No. 18 Ole Miss
- The Pack went undefeated at home with an 18-0 mark (third time that has happened in school history, second in the Moore era). NC State has the fourth best active home winning streak in the country with 23 straight games won at Reynolds going into this season
- The Pack sold out 14 home games and had the fourth best percent capacity, ranking fourth in the country (94.16). NC State also sold season tickets for the fourth straight year
- Three different members of the Pack were named to the All-ACC First Team with two-time selections Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers, along with first-time choice Zoe Brooks, who also became the program's first-time ACC Most Improved Player
- Coach Wes Moore was named ACC Coach of the Year, his fourth such honor by the conference and 15th overall
- NC State had two first round draft picks in the 2025 WNBA Draft, being the lone school to accomplish that feat in the 2025 draft. Rivers was drafted No. 8 overall (highest draft pick in school history) to the Connecticut Sun and James was chosen No. 12 by the Dallas Wings
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
- The Panthers are coming off its second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history last season, selected as the No. 16 seed in the play-in game against William & Mary in the Austin, Texas pod
- High Point won the Big South regular season and tournament titles with a 21-12 overall record and 13-3 mark in conference play
- The Panthers are led by returning leading scorer Nevaeh Zavala, who averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game
- Aaliyah Collins paced the team in steals with 75 and Zavala had the most blocks with 25
- Chelsea Banbury leads the Panthers, entering her seventh season at the helm

NC State will have one more exhibition against Maryland at First Horizon Coliseum on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. The game will be a doubleheader with the men, who will play South Carolina at 4 p.m, and tickets can be purchased HERE
