RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 6 NC State men's and No. 8 women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up their final dual meet of the season with dominant performances over the UNCW Seahawks. The women's team triumphed over the Seahawks with a 176-111 victory, while the men's squad followed suit, securing a 161-114 win.
The Pack honored its 11 seniors and fifth-year athletes for their exceptional dedication and hard work throughout their careers. The seniors recognized were Luke Miller, Sam Hoover, Chase Travis, Owen Lloyd, Caroline Sheble, Grace Sheble, Annabel Crush, Lindsey Immel, Kenna Smallegange, Will Gallant, and Ashton Zuburg.
Senior Kenna Smallegange captured her first victory with the team in the women's 1650 freestyle, while freshman Sasha Zheltiakov earned his first collegiate win in the men's 200 back with a time of 1:41.00. In the sprints, Wells Walker and Cassie Moses both secured their first victories in the 50 free for the men and women, respectively. Erika Pelaez also triumphed in the 500 free, marking her first distance win. Sophie Scadron posted a personal best of 29.12 in the 100 fly, and Leah Shackley and Sam Hoover both recorded their second-fastest times of the season in the same event.
Divers Calvin LeBlanc, Elisabeth Rockefeller, and Ashton Zuburg all earned first-place finishes in their respective events. Senior Ashton Zuburg led the charge in the 1-meter competition, securing the top spot while teammates Rockefeller and Bidwell followed closely behind, completing a Pack sweep of the top three positions. Following an impressive showing at the Eddie Reese Showdown hosted by the University of Texas last week, Rockefeller continued her strong form, clinching first place in the 3-meter event this week. Meanwhile, Calvin LeBlanc delivered a stellar performance in the 3-meter dive, scoring 307.88 to claim his own first-place finish.
Both Wolfpack 200 free relay teams made a memorable statement on Senior Night, setting back-to-back pool records to cap off an electrifying evening. The women's relay team, featuring Olivia Nel, Lily Christianson, Cassie Moses, and Erika Pelaez, set the tone with a dominant performance, finishing first in 1:26.88. Moments later, the men's team, comprising Wells Walker, Sam Hoover, Jerry Fox, and Quintin McCarty followed suit, securing the top spot with a time of 1:15.10. In addition to the records, both teams earned A-cut times, underscoring their exceptional performances and leaving a lasting mark on the night.
Looking ahead, the Wolfpack will head to Chapel Hill for the UNC Invitational, set to take place from February 6-8.
