#6 Wrestling Stays on the Road for Conference Dual at Virginia

RALEIGH, N.C. – Sixth-ranked NC State wrestling stays on the road to visit Virginia for its second conference match-up of the season. The dual is slated for a 7 p.m. start Friday night in Charlottesville, Va.
Dual-Meet Info
• Due to renovations in Memorial Gym, the dual-meet will be held in the Aquatics & Fitness Center on campus.
• Parking for fans is free at Lot E off Whitehead Road between Scott Stadium and the AFC.
• Starttime for the dual is slated for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

• Friday's dual-meet marks the 73rd meeting between the Wolfpack and the Cavaliers. NC State currently leads the series over Virginia by nine victories. Amidst the Popolizio era, the leader of the Pack holds only two losses to the opposing team, both of which were in his first two years at the helm. The Wolfpack has claimed the last 10 matchups by a 290-88 total score.
• The two faced each other this past season in Reynolds Coliseum that resulted in a 38-3 win for the Wolfpack.

• The ACC holds five teams ranked nationally, all which are now inside the top-20 (No. 6 NC State, No. 11 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Pittsburgh, No. 17 Stanford, and No. 19 North Carolina). There are seven teams total with wrestling programs in the ACC.
• The program entered the top-5 at No. 5 on January 7 after occupying the No. 6 spot for seven consecutive NWCA polls this season and then sliding back down to No. 6 after losing to No. 3 Oklahoma State.
• Nine of the 10 weight classes for NC State boast a ranked wrestler by InterMat, two of which are in the top-10.
• NC State opens the season as the defending ACC Champions for the sixth-straight season. The consecutive titles make the Wolfpack the second wrestling program to hold at least six consecutive ACC trophies (other program is previous conference member Maryland. The program now has 21 total conference championships, the most among current ACC teams.
• Isaac Trumble placed second in the heavyweight bracket at the highly-competitive Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitiational on December 7th after tallying ranked wins over No. 20 Lance Runyon of Northern Iowa and No. 5 Cohlton Schultz of Arizona State. His lone loss in the finals came from Oklahoma State's No. 3 Wyatt Hendrickson who placed third at the 2023 & 2024 NCAA Championships.
• For the second time this season, Vince Robinson earned ACC Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 14 after winning in his return match after not competing for over a month. The redshirt-freshman took down No. 2 Troy Spratley who was the No. 6 seed at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Kansas City.
