
NC State Cross Country Teams Compete at ACC Championships, Women Finish Fifth and Men Seventh

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State cross country teams began their postseason at the ACC Championships on Friday, Nov. 1. The women's team finished in fifth place, while the men's team placed seventh in the annual championship held this year at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Women's 6k
Grace Hartman continued her strong season for the Pack, leading the women's team in every race as she claimed medalist honors in the women's 6k. The junior excelled in Friday's race, finishing first with a time of 19:15, seven seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Teammate Hannah Gapes finished third with a time of 19:26. Both Hartman and Gapes earned All-ACC honors, marking Hartman's third consecutive year as an All-ACC performer.
Hartman's win marked the sixth consecutive year that an NC State runner claimed the ACC Individual Champion title.
True freshman Ellie Shea was the third NC State finisher, posting a time of 20:19, and was the only true freshman competing for the Pack in the women's event.
The remainder of the top seven runners for NC State included Angelina Napoleon (20:47), Fiona Smith (20:55), Brooke Rauber (21:06), and Kate Putman (21:20), who placed 59th, 68th, 82nd, and 95th, respectively.
The women's team finished fifth overall with a score of 160.
Men's 8k
Graduate student Brett Gardner led the NC State men, finishing 17th with a time of 22:59, which earned him All-ACC honors.
Following Gardner was JJ Malach, who finished 35th with a time of 23:16. Teammates Jake Toomey (23:35), Ryan Motondo (23:37), and Wesley Larson (23:39) finished closely together in 51st, 53rd, and 54th places, respectively.
Toby Gualter (24:02) and Noah Valyo (24:13) rounded out the top seven for NC State, finishing 74th and 89th.
The men's team placed seventh with a total score of 210.
