Stanford, Calif. – NC State men's soccer (5-2-3) collected its third tie of the season Friday night on the road when their game with second-ranked Stanford (8-1-2) resulted in a 0-0 draw.
The Wolfpack tallied its third draw on their record, while this was their first completely scoreless game of the season.
Drew Lovelace and Aidan Payne both found their way into the starting lineup for their first times this season.
At the half, the Wolfpack held close with a substantial amount of possession through the first 45 but trailed 6-7 to the Cardinal in shots taken. In goal, Logan Erb accumulated four saves to hold the game scoreless. Henrique Santos held the lone shot on goal in the first half to force the Stanford save over the crossbar by their goalkeeper, Rowan Schnebly.
The second half brought numerous corner-kick and free-kick opportunities that forced pressure on the Cardinal back line but no shots were able to find the back of the net for the Wolfpack.
Hakim Karamoko led in four shots taken, and was followed by defender, Liam Bennett, who had two.
By the end of the game, the two evened out with 11 shots taken each. Erb closed out with five saves, pushing him ahead of the Pack's other go-to keeper Enzo Carvalho.
