
Pack Finishes in Fifth Place at Williams Cup

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team finished in fifth place out of 13 teams at the Williams Cup Presented by Stitch Golf held at Eagle Point Golf Club.
For the second consecutive tournament, Joey Lenane the Pack as the Dedham, Mass., native finished in a tie for 10th place.
Lenane opened the tournament with an even-par 72 and after a one-over par 73 in the second round, closed the event on Tuesday with a two-under par 70 to finish one-under par for 54 holes.
The NC State junior has now finished under-par in all three events this fall for the Pack and has recorded two top-10 performances.
Next for the Pack was Michele Ferrero in a tie for 19th place at three-over par. Ferrero shot a 73 on Sunday before leading NC State on Monday with a team-best 72. He closed the event in the third round with a two-over par 74.
The NC State freshmen has two top-20 finishes in three tournaments this season.
Michael Vick finished in a tie for 26th out of 75 competitors in his first tournament of the season as a member of the five-man lineup after previously playing as an individual in the first two events of the fall. The Raleigh, N.C., native opened with an even-par 72 before closing with rounds of 74 and 75. To finish at five-over par for the tournament.
Nick Mathews was next for the Pack in 41st place. After a team-best one-under par 71 in the opening round on Sunday, Mathews struggled in the second round on Monday, before closing the event with a 73 in the third round.
Adam Pedersen rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 51st place. Pedersen opened with a 73 and shot a 75 in the second round.
Tournament-host North Carolina captured the team title by one shot over runner-up Arizona State. Auburn finished in third place, three shots behind the Sun Devils. UNC's David Ford was individual medalist with a three-round score of 10-under par.
The Williams Cup concluded the fall portion of NC State's schedule. The Pack will kick off the spring portion of its schedule on Feb. 3 when it begins play at the Briers Creek Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
