Pack Adds Second-Highest Away-Meet Score
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The NC State gymnastics team collected its second-straight away-meet victory on Sunday afternoon, as the Wolfpack posted a 196.275 at LIU in a tri-meet with the Sharks and Temple.
The contest was highlighted by NC State posting its best floor score since 2018 with a 49.425 in the event, with Chloe Negrete matching her career high of 9.950 to lead the way for the Pack. Negrete claimed first-place finishes on both floor and vault as she anchored with a 9.900 in NC State's final rotation, while Emily Shepard was awarded all-around champion with a four-event total of 39.400.
Bars (48.925)
The meet began with the Wolfpack on bars where Lauren Rutherford registered a team-high 9.850. A leadoff 9.800 from Kailee Adomaites set the tone, with her score later matched by Shepard. The Pack's scoring effort was rounded out by a 9.750 and 9.725 from bars specialists Peyton Childs and Sofia Obregon.
Beam (48.925)
Negrete and Ortega each contributed a podium finish on beam, with the two seniors tallying scores of 9.825 and landing in a five-way tie for third place. Shepard's second score of 9.800 left her just off the podium, while a 9.750 from Macy Jennings and a 9.725 from Gabrielle Diaz completed NC State's second score of 48.925 in as many rotations.
Floor (49.425)
The Wolfpack's best event of the evening came during its third rotation, as the Pack counted five scores of 9.800+ with Rutherford, Negrete, and Shepard each matching their career-high scores. A strong 9.850 to lead NC State off in the event from Diaz sparked the sixth-highest score in program history in the event, with Krista Zultevicz's 9.800 preceding a run of 9.900 from Rutherford, 9.925 from Shepard, and 9.950 from Negrete. Negrete's score in the anchor position served as the Wolfpack's best individual single-event score of the season, and was the first 9.950 since Carina Jordan did so in 2022.
Vault (49.000)
Negrete led the way once again for the Pack on vault, firing a first-place 9.900 in NC State's last routine of the evening. Shepard posted a 9.875, while Rutherford tallied a 9.775. A leadoff 9.750 from Diaz contributed to the scoring effort while Ortega completed the total with a 9.700.
