
Chapman Sets Heptathlon School Record on Final Day of Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The NC State track & field programs concluded competition at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday, breaking a school record and setting multiple top-10 program marks.
DISTANCE
Zach Hughes tabbed the fourth-best 800m time in program history, running a personal-best 1:50.26.
JUMPS
Michelle Cobb attained a first-place finish in the women's triple jump, setting a PR with a leap of 13.08m (42' 11") that bettered her own third-best jump in program history.
MULTI-EVENTS
Heptathlon action resumed with the long jump, and Timara Chapman continued a stellar weekend with a personal-best 6.07m (19' 11"). The leap was good for second place and ranks sixth in program history.
In the javelin, Chapman took second place with a 36.70m (120' 5") throw.
The final event of the heptathlon was the 800m, and Chapman charted a PR of 2:19.61 that earned her a third-place finish.
Chapman collected 5614 points, topping her own school record and taking first place with the 15th-best mark in the country.
SPRINTS
Cameron Murray and Joshua Brockman earned the top two spots in the men's 110m hurdles, Murray placing first with a 13.94 and Brockman taking second with a 13.95.
The Pack saw a third-place finish in the men's 4x100m with Alan Alvarez, Alexander Lang, Alexander Nunley and Henry Young running a 39.88.
Jada Griffin and Ally Henson each ran personal bests in the women's 200m. Griffin clocked a 23.55 for second place and the sixth-fastest time in program history, and Henson registered a 24.75.
In the men's 200m section, Nunley crossed the finish line in 21.17.
UP NEXT
NC State is slated to travel to three meets the weekend of April 28-30. The Pack will compete at Penn Relays, the Charlotte Invitational and the Torrin Lawrence Memorial.
