Pack Finishes in Fifth Place at Seminole Intercollegiate

Benjamin Shipp posts his 18th career top-10 finish
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NC State men's golf team posted its third consecutive day of solid golf to finish in fifth place out of 15 teams at the Seminole Intercollegiate held at Golden Eagle Country Club.
Playing in a loaded field that featured nine teams ranked in the Golfweek Top-50 rankings, the Pack hung in the top-five the entire tournament and closed the three-day tourney with a three-round team score of three-under par.
Benjamin Shipp led the Pack with a three-round score of five-under par to finish in a tie for eighth-place out of 85 individuals. The Duluth, Ga., native fired his best round of the tourney on Saturday when he shot a five-under par 67. The top-10 finish is the 18th of Shipp's collegiate career.
Christian Salzer finished two shots back of Shipp in a tie for 11th place. Salzer finished with a final scorecard of 72-69-72 to finish at three-under par.
Easton Paxton was next for the Pack in a tie for 21st place with a final tally of 74-67-75.
Max Steinlechner finished in a tie for 39th place at 72-75-75 for six-over par.
Spencer Oxendine shot his best round of the tourney on Sunday, shooting a two-over par 74 and finished in a tie for 80th place.
Playing as an individual, freshman Nick Mathews finished in 77th place.
Host Florida State won the tournament by nine shots over second-place Oklahoma State. Top-ranked Oklahoma finished in third and Liberty came home in fourth.
The Pack returns to action Monday, March 1 when it begins play in the Pinehurst Invitational.
