
Wolfpack Set for ACC Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - The men's and women's NC State cross country teams will host the 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C., on Friday, Oct. 30. The 21st-ranked men's team will compete in the 8K championship at 10 a.m. while the fourth-ranked women will start their 6K race at 11 a.m.
Spectators will not be permitted at the 2020 ACC Cross Country Championships, and both races will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

LOOKING BACK AT 2019:
The NC State women claimed their fourth-straight ACC crown in 2019 with 64 points, and Elly Henes took home the individual title. Kelsey Chmiel tabbed a top-10 finish at the meet as well, finishing in fourth place. Julia Zachgo and Savannah Shaw earned All-ACC honors alongside Henes and Chmiel. Nevada Mareno was the fifth scorer for NC State at the 2019 Championship with a 26th-place finish.
On the men's side, Ian Shanklin was the top finisher for the Wolfpack with a third-place time while Gavin Gaynor took sixth. Both men's finishes were good for All-ACC status. Additional members of the team who scored points were Nate Kawalec, Tanis Baldwin and Hannes Burger. The men's team finished in eighth place at the meet.
PACK IN THE POLLS:
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its first national coaches poll of the season on Tuesday, and both NC State squads earned top-25 rankings.
The Wolfpack women claimed fourth place, marking the highest ranking for the team since it was ranked fourth in the final poll of the 2016 season. Five total women's ACC squads were ranked in the initial poll.
NC State's men checked into the rankings in 21st and were one of four men's ACC teams to be ranked.
