PROVO Utah – NC State women's soccer's run in the NCAA Tournament came to a close on Saturday night at South Field in Provo, Utah, as it fell, 3-0, to second-seeded BYU in the Sweet Sixteen.
The Wolfpack ends its season with a 12-7-4 overall record after advancing to the Sweet Sixteen for the third time in the past four years, while the Cougars advance to the Elite Eight and remain undefeated with a 21-0-1 ledger.
Cameron Tucker and Josie Guinn scored in the 12th and 34th minutes, respectively, to hold a 2-0 advantage heading into the locker room. Tucker additionally added on a goal in the opening minutes of the second half.
The Cougars outshot the Pack, 15-9, and a majority of NC State's chances came in the second half. Seven of its eight shots in the final 45 minutes were on frame.
The senior class finished their careers with 49 wins, which are the most by a single class since 1997 (also 49 wins). The class also helped the program earn four consecutive at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament, which had not been done since the 1989-1992 seasons.
