
Shipp Finishes in Second Place at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, TENN. – Senior Benjamin Shipp led the NC State men's golf team with a second-place finish and the team finished in a tie for sixth place as the Pack closed its fall schedule Sunday at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate held at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.
In the third round, Shipp had a five-birdie and zero bogey round to finish with a score of 67. For the tournament, the Duluth, Ga., native finished with a 54-hole score of 13-under par, 203.
It ties for the best 54-hole score of Shipp's collegiate career and his best collegiate-score away from Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Shipp finished with a 13-under par 203 in October of 2018 when he won the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
It ties for the third-best score related to par in NC State program history.
Senior Christian Salzer finished in a tie for 32nd place after an even-par 72 in the third round. Salzer finished with a scorecard of 71-71-72—214.
Freshman Max Steinlechner finished in a tie for 43rd place with a final 54-hole scorecard of 69-70-78—217.
Fellow freshman Carter Graf finished one shot back of Steinlechner in a tie for 47th with a 54-hole score of 76-72-70—218.
Graduate student Brett McLamb rounded out the NC State lineup in a tie for 56th place, one shot back of Graf with a scorecard of 75-72-72—219.
Playing as an individual, freshman Spencer Oxendine finished in 82nd place at 72-74-84—230.
Tournament-host ETSU shot 19-under par as a team on Saturday to leap five spots up the leaderboard and into the lead. Tennessee is in second place, two shots back of the Bucs. Louisville is in third place, two shots back of the Volunteers.
The Pack is finished with the fall portion of its schedule. It will begin its spring schedule on Monday, Feb. 3 when it participates in the Sea Best Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
