RALEIGH – Seven members of the Wolfpack are set to compete at the 2018 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships, which begins Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
The tournament gets underway with pre-qualifying rounds (Sept. 29-30) and qualifying rounds (Oct. 1-2) before main draw play (Oct. 4-8) starts. The championship matches for both doubles and singles will be played Monday, Oct. 8.
Michael Ogden, Joseph Schrader, Tristan Smith and Robert Turzak will get things going for NC State in the pre-qualifying singles draw, out of which 16 players will advance to the qualifying draw.
No. 71 Igor Saveljic, Tadas Babelis and Ivan Saveljic earned qualifying spots in singles competition. Players must win three rounds in the qualifying draw to advance to action in the main singles draw.
In doubles, Babelis and Ogden are set to play as one of 32 teams in the qualifying draw. They will look to join the 15th-ranked Wolfpack duo of Igor and Ivan, who already earned an automatic spot in the doubles main draw.
In addition to vying for the All-American title, players will be competing to secure a berth to the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. Singles quarterfinalists, doubles semifinalists, consolation singles finalists, and consolation doubles finalists will all advance to the fall national championship draw.
