
Pack in Fourth After One Round at Chris Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, GA. – The NC State men's golf team sits in a tie for fourth place, just three shots back of second, after one round of play at the Chris Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
As a team, the Pack shot a two-under par 286 to tie with Notre Dame. Vanderbilt is leading the field by nine strokes over second-place Kentucky. Mississippi State is in third place, two shots behind the Wildcats and one shot ahead of the Pack and Fighting Irish.
Nolan Mills Jr, led the Pack with a two-under par 70 to sit in a tie for 11th place. Mills went out in one-under and started the back nine with a birdie on hole 10, an eagle on hole 12 and and another birdie on hole 13. After three consecutive bogeys, Mills rebounded with a birdie on hole 18 to go into the clubhouse with an opening round 70.
Harrison Rhoades playing in his first tournament of the fall is one shot back of Mills in a tie for 16th place. Rhoades birdied holes 2, 6 and 18 to shoot a first round 71.
Stephen Franken was next for the Pack at even-par. The Raleigh native had three birdies on the front nine, but had four bogeys on the back nine before a birdie on 18 brought him in with a 72.
Easton Paxton and Benjamin Shipp rounded out the Pack lineup as both shot a one-over par 73.
Second round play for NC State begins at 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
