
NC State to Host Miami, No. 33 Florida State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team will host Miami and No. 33 Florida State this weekend at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The Pack will open the weekend against Miami Friday at 2:30 p.m. and play Florida State Saturday at 4 p.m.

NC State is searching for its fourth win in five matches and enters the weekend with a 12-11 (3-5 ACC) record.

Scouting Miami:
Miami holds an 8-9 (2-6 ACC) record this season. The Hurricanes have won their last two matches with victories over Boston College and Notre Dame, but dropped six straight matches before last weekend's results. Individually, Piotr Lomacki leads Miami at No. 46 in the singles rankings, while Max Andrews and Jesse Flores are ranked No. 40 in the doubles poll.

Scouting Florida State:
Florida State enters the weekend with a 13-7 (4-4 ACC) record. The Seminoles will face Wake Forest on Friday before playing the Pack on Saturday. Florida State has won once in its last five matches, but holds wins over ranked opponents Louisville, Florida and Pepperdine. Aziz Dougaz is ranked 63rd and Guy Iradukunda is 73rd in the singles poll to lead FSU. In doubles, Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain are ranked 87th.
Last Time Out:
NC State dropped a tough result against No. 40 Louisville in a 4-3 decision. The match point came down to the tiebreaker in the third set of the final singles match. The result halted NC State's three-match winning streak. Despite the loss, Alexis Galarneau picked up a team-leading 22nd win of the year and fifth victory over a ranked opponent with his 7-6(2) 6-0 win over No. 114 Christopher Morin- Kougoucheff.

Nick Horton moved to No. 80, and Galarneau moved up to No. 103 in the latest ITA singles poll. The duo also moved up in the doubles poll and is now ranked No. 49. Horton and Galarneau have defeated a combined nine nationally ranked opponents in singles play and have downed two ranked opponents in doubles play.

Horton is currently ranked sixth in school history with 83 career singles wins and is just three wins from moving into a tie for fifth in school history. Galarneau's incredible freshman campaign has him just four wins away from cracking the school's top-10 list for wins in a spring season.Â
