STATESBORO, Ga. – Led by three-under-par scores of 69 from sophomore Stephen Franken and freshman Benjamin Shipp, the NC State men's golf team completed the first round of play Friday at the 2017 Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern.
Through one round of golf at Forest Heights Country Club, the Wolfpack ranks 10th in the tournament field with a score of 286 (-2). NC State is just seven strokes behind current leader College of Charleston, which shot a team score of 279 (-9) on Friday.
Franken finished the front nine in incredible fashion on Friday, recording an eagle on the par-five seventh hole and back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine.
