Wolfpack Improves Standing Saturday at ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team completed the second day of action at the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship on Saturday. Through two rounds of play at Old North State Club, the Wolfpack is in seventh place among 12 teams with a combined score of 577 (+1).
No. 12 Clemson currently leads the tournament field, having shot a team score of 557 (-19) through two rounds. In second is No. 11 Wake Forest at 565 (-11). NC State is a mere two strokes removed from a tie for fourth place with Georgia Tech and No. 24 Virginia. The Wolfpack is three strokes ahead of Louisville and 11 in front of No. 25 UNC-Chapel Hill.
For the second straight day, Jacob McBride shot under par with a 71 (-2). He was joined by strong performances from Carter Page (71), Stephen Franken (72), and David Cooke (73). McBride improved on the individual leaderboard from eighth to sixth.

WAY TO RALLY
After recording two birdies on the first four holes Saturday, Cooke ended the front nine on a difficult note with three bogies between holes 6-9. The senior showed impressive composure down the stretch, sinking nine pars on the back nine to end his day with a 73 (+1).
STRONG FINISH
Page recorded two birdies and two pars on the last four holes Saturday to finish his round at 71 (-1).
SUNDAY TEE TIMES
NC State is paired with Louisville and No. 25 UNC-Chapel Hill for Sunday's final round. The Wolfpack will tee off between 8:30 and 9:10 a.m.
