Men’s Swimming And Diving Seeks Second-Straight ACC Championship Title

The meet will run Wednesday through Saturday
RALEIGH- After a dominant week for the Wolfpack women in Greensboro, N.C., the NC State men's swimming and diving team will make its appearance at the 2016 ACC Championships inside Greensboro Aquatic Center Wednesday through Saturday.
Wednesday's portion of the meet will only have a finals session, which will start at 4 p.m. Prelims of the final three days are set of a 10 a.m. start while finals will commence at 6 p.m.
Holloway's Statement
"We're looking forward to heading back to Greensboro this week, this time with our men's team. They've worked really hard all year and have prepared well for this meet, and we look forward to the competiton that lies ahead," said head coach Braden Holloway. "The challenge that we face of trying to get back on top should be a great one with all of the talent out there. The ACC is a growing conference and we're very happy to be a part of it. We're ready to compete hard, but will take it one session at a time and aim to compete to the best of our ability."
Scouting The ACC
The Wolfpack men are the top-ranked ACC team heading into the conference championship, listed at No. 7. Four other squads are listed among the CSCAA top-25 rankings, as Louisville is No. 13, UNC-CH is 18th, Duke is 20th and Virginia Tech sits at No. 24.
When facing conference opponents this season NC State is undefeated, as the team faced former No. 22 Florida State, No. 21 Virginia and No. 19 UNC-Chapel Hill in dual meet action.
2015 ACC Championship Recap
The men's team clinched its 25th ACC Championship title last year inside Georgia Tech's aquatic center, its first since 1992.
Over the course of the four-day event, the program won 10 of the 21 events contested at the championship, including four of the five relays and a total of 22 medals. The men's team also broke a combined 24 school, conference, ACC meet and pool records.
Key Championship Notes
-Heading into the championship season, NC State's men hold a 3-3 (3-0 ACC) record on its regular season. All six opponents the squad faced in dual meets during the season were listed among the top-25 poll.
-The men finished the season ranked No. 7 in the nation. Its highest listing was No. 5, as the team never dropped out of the top 10 during the year.
-The men's team returns seven individual/relay champions from last year's ACC Championship team to Greensboro.
-Including four of the five relays in the NCAA format, NC State holds seven conference and ACC Championship records. In addition to the relays, Simonas Bilis holds both records in the 50 and 100 freestyle, while Hennessey Stuart owns the marks in the 200 backstroke.
-NC State holds 37 top-10 times among the conference standings. Of those marks, 16 are listed as top-25 times in the nation.

Extensive coverage via ESPN3 will be available for the final three days of the Championship. Rowdy Gaines will anchor coverage during the men's week of competition.
A three-time Olympic Gold medalist and a member of the both the US Swimming and International Swimming Hall of Fame, Gaines will be joined by analyst Sid Cassidy, whose extensive coaching background includes stints at both Miami and Florida State.
Additionally, Florida Swim Network will host a 'College SwimDay' the final three days of the championship at 5 p.m. Viewers can catch more extensive coverage and interviews on their website- FloridaSwimNetwork.com. Fans can also follow along with the network's live stream site.
