CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The NC State gymnastics team earned its second-straight team victory in Chapel Hill Friday night, as the team earned a mark of 194.050 to defeat host UNC-CH and William and Mary in a tri-meet.
The Tar Heels posted a mark of 193.000 to finish second while the Tribe finished third with a score of 192.400.
The Wolfpack's outing was highlighted by 12 top-five finishes, including wins from Brittni Watkins on bars and Nicole Wild on beam and two career-high marks from Paris Phillips.
From The Coach's Perspective
"Anytime we can go down the road to Chapel Hill and come out with back-to-back weekends is a great feeling. Despite some sturggles along the way, we finished really strong on beam tonight and we're really proud of how everyone finished. They showed what our team is capable of and left it all out there on the floor," said associate head coach Colleen Johnson.
"We certainly have our work cut out for us over the next couple of meets, and need to get to a point where we're not counting falls and coming up short of what our ultimate goal is. We have a great opportunity this weekend when we go back to Iowa State and also face Nebraska, which are both very well-coached teams. We've competed inside their arena already once this year, so we're familiar with the environment which gives us confidence heading into the meet."
