Henderson Leads Pack Past Fairfield, 99-78

Senior made six three-pointers and finished with game-high 25 points
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team picked up its fourth-straight victory with a 99-78 win over Fairfield Sunday afternoon at PNC Arena. The win extends the Pack's record to 7-0 at home and 9-2 overall.
Terry Henderson led the Wolfpack with a game high 25 points and seven rebounds.
In the win, 14 Wolfpack players earned playing time, while five players scored at least 10 points. It is the second-straight game and fourth-time this season the Pack has had at least five players score in double figures. Last season, the Pack only had three games with five players in double figures.
Dennis Smith, Jr. posted 17 points, nine assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block in the win, while junior Abdul-Malik Abu recorded 14 points and nine rebounds. Omer Yurtseven posted 12 points and six rebounds off-the-bench and Torin Dorn contributed 12 points and four rebounds.
After a basket by Fairfield's Tyler Nelson gave the Stags a 17-15 lead with 13:48 left in the first half, the Pack scored 19 straight points, while holding Fairfield to 0-for-12 shooting from the floor over a six-minute period. NC State would extend its lead to as much as 17 points in the first half and entered halftime leading 48-39 after a late Fairfield surge.
The Stags scored the first five points out of the locker room in the second half to cut NC State's lead to four, but Abu scored four straight points to double the Pack's lead to eight.
With 17:34 left in the contest, Fairfield had again cut into the Wolfpack's lead, but NC State outscored the Stags 12-4 over the next three minutes to take a 14-point lead. Fairfield never got within single digits the rest of the way as the Pack dominated the rest of the contest, leading by as many as 29 points.
The Wolfpack shot 52 percent from the three-point line – its second highest three-point shooting percentage of the season and also passed out a season-high 25 assists in the win.
Fairfield was led by Nelson's 23 points and also set a PNC Arena record as the Stags were a perfect 17-of-17 at the foul line.
