Throwers Take Third at Liberty Twilight

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Nicole Chavis and Jule Rich threw at the Liberty Twilight meet on Wednesday night. Both throwers took third in their respective events as they continued to prep for post-season competition.
Rich took third in the men's shot with a throw of 53'2.25". The senior tabbed his ninth top-5 finish of the season. His throw was just shy of his current season high. Rich has qualified for the conference championships in the shot put, discus and the hammer throw and holds a regional top-48 mark in the discus.
Chavis took third in the women's discus throw for her fifth top-10 throw of the season. Her mark of 143'8.00"was less than four feet from second place. Chavis is also poised to compete at the ACC Championships, as she holds conference qualifying marks in the discus and hammer throw, in addition to a regional top-48 mark in the discus.
