NC State had its offense rolling for the second straight game, cruising to a 16-5 win over NC A&T on Wednesday night at Doak Field at Dail Park.
Jake Fincher climbed into a tie for seventh on NC State's all-time triples leaderboard with the 11th of his career, matching Brian Bark and Dallas Poulk on the list.
The first five spots in the Wolfpack (14-9) order combined for 16 of State's 18 hits. Preston Palmeiro and Andrew Knizner finished the game with four hits apiece. Brock Deatherage and Jake Armstrong also contributed three hits each with two doubles and two RBIs.
Travis Orwig (1-0) picked up the win for the Pack in relief, throwing a scoreless three innings, allowing no hits and striking out two. Wolfpack starter Brad Stone, relievers Evan Mendoza, and Tommy DeJuneas combined for the other six innings of work.
The Wolfpack pounced on the Aggies (3-18) early with hits from each of its first five batters, leading 4-0 after the first frame. Doubles down the left field line from Logan Ratledge and Armstrong scored two more runs for the Pack in the second inning.
Leading 11-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh, State continued to pour it on, as Fincher smacked a 2-run triple off the wall to score Knizner and Palmeiro. The Pack added two more runs in the eighth to seal the win.
NC State returns to action on Friday, March 27 for the first of three games hosting Pittsburgh. Game times for the series have been shifted to 3 PM/2 PM/1 PM.
