
Pack Gymnastics Earns Second-Straight Road Win of Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- The NC State gymnastics team posted 10 scores of 9.800 or better to earn its second-straight road win over Eastern Atlantic Gymnastics League opponent Pittsburgh Friday evening inside the Fitzgerald Field House.
The Wolfpack earned a 195.075 while the Panthers posted a 194.150.
Uneven Bars
As a team, NC State recorded a 48.900 in its first rotation of the evening, as the Wolfpack counted five scores that were a 9.700 or higher.
Junior All-American Brittni Watkins returned to competition, as she earned a score of 9.850 to take second place overall on bars. Amanda Fillard earned a 9.825 to tie for third with Pittsburgh’s Lindsay Offut and Miya Dotson.
Vault
Chelsea Knight led the squad to a team score of 48,675 on vault, as she posted a score of 9.800 to take first place. Woodford finished behind Knight in second place with a score of 9.775, while Lane Jarred and Amanda Fillard finished fourth and sixth with scores of 9.725 and 9.700, respectively.
Floor Exercise
Jarred tied for second with the Panther’s Taylor Laymon with a score of 9.850, while Mackenzie Itcush finished fourth with a 9.825 and Aubrey Hine and Woodford tied for fifth place with scores of .9800.
Itcush’s outing on floor marked a career high for the freshman, while Hine’s score marked a season best for the junior.
WIth the team’s four scores of 9.800 or higher, the Wolfpack earned a season-high score of 49.000.
Balance Beam
Woodford and Nicole Wild placed first and second on beam to give the team a 48.500 in its final event of the evening. Woodford posted a 9.825 while Wild followed with a 9.800 to tie her career high.
All-Around Competition
Woodford won the all-around competition for the second-straight meet. She earned a score of 39.100 as the Pack’s only all-around competitor.
Up Next
NC State will return to action when it hosts George Washington and William in its Beauty and the Beast meet on Feb. 14 inside Reynolds Coliseum. Competition is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
Tickets for adults will run at $5, while children 17 and under and students will receive free admission.
