PITTSBURGH, PA. --- Jess Panza led the way with three first-place finishes including a 9.925 beam routine as NC State gymnastics swept all but three spots atop the podiums after a season high 196.075 Sunday at Pitt.
Panza’s 9.925 marks the highest single event score by any Pack gymnast this season, and her 39.225 all-around total represents the second highest all-around score this year for NC State (6-8, 4-1 EAGL), trailing only her 39.300 set Friday at #11 Penn St.
In addition to her first place on beam and all-around, the junior captured a first place finish with a 9.875 floor exercise.
NC State’s season-high performance could be credited to the squad’s 49.100 beam score, the first time this season that the Pack has eclipsed the 49-point mark. The Wolfpack also enjoyed a 49.075 floor score and a pair of48.950s on vault and bars.
Rachel Fincham stretched her podium-finish streak to five-straight meets with a 9.9 on bars. Fincham has landed two firsts, a second, and two thirds dating back to the Pack’s Sweetheart Invitational on February 12.
Kristen Harabedian and Alex Williams joined Fincham on the podium with their bar routines. Harabedian came in second with a 9.85 and Williams finished third on a 9.8.
Hannah Fallanca finished in a tie for second on beam with a 9.85. For Fallanca and Williams, the podium finishes are each firsts on the season.
Diahanna Ham and Brooke Barr tied for first on vault. For Barr, the win marks her fifth first-place finish of the year, while Ham nabs her third with all three coming on the event.
Stephanie Ouellette finished second behind Panza in the all-around by totaling a 39.025 to finish two-tenths behind the junior.
NC State faces one last road test before the EAGL Championships, as the Pack travels to Minneapolis on Friday, March 11 to meet Minnesota at 7 p.m.
