TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Ryan Hill and Andrew Colley earned All-America honors Monday to lead NC State to 10th place at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Hill, a senior who capped his NC State cross country career as a three-time All-American, finished 12th, running the 10k Gibson Championship Course in a time of 29:37.1. Colley, a redshirt-sophomore, was right behind in 15th place, at 29:40.0.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wolfpack men were senior Bobby Moldovan (93rd at 30:45), sophomore Matt Sonnenfeldt (123rd at 30:58.4) and senior Adam Henken (124th at 30:58.6).
NC State finished in the top 10 for the 10th time in program history, the first since the 2003 team finished 10th. Hill and Colley become the Wolfpack's first dual All-Americans since Julia Lucas and Bona Jones in 2006, and the first dual All-Americans for the men's team since Chris Seaton and Chad Pearson in 2001. Hill is the Wolfpack's eighth three-time All-American and the first since Chan Pons in 1996-97-98. Betty Springs (1979-80-81-83) and Julie Shea (1977-78-79-80) were four-time All-Americans.
Colley became the 40th Wolfpack cross country runner to earn All-America since 1977. Those 40 NC State runners have earned All-America distinction 67 times.
NC State finished 23rd in the women's championship race. Senior Andie Cozzarelli led the Wolfpack with a 63rd-place finish. She ran the 6k course in 20:44.2. Sophomore Laura Hoer, a 2010 All-American, finished 71st at 20:48.7, and freshman Joanna Thompson was 77th at 20:51.6.
Rounding out the scoring for NC State were junior Erin Mercer (219th, 22:07.2) and sophomore Samantha Norman (222nd, 22:08.9).
