
Men's Golf Even In First Round Of ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. - The NC State men's golf team shot even par in the first round of the ACC Championship Friday at the par-72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point. The Wolfpack is in fifth place of the nine teams and is led by Stephen Lewton, who fired a three-under-par 69 on the first 18 holes, which places the sophomore in a tie for fourth place.
Lewton birdied five holes and is only two strokes behind the leader. Two strokes behind Lewton is freshman Jerry Richardson, who carded a one-under score of 71 in the first round and is tied for 11th. Garry Hill and Fernando Mechereffe both fired two-over scores and are tied for 24th place. Wesley Horne is tied for 31st with a three-over-par score.
North Carolina jumped out in front with a seven-under total and Wake Forest's Bill Haas leads the pack with a five-under first round score.
