Freshman Andre Iriarte moved to 3-0 in dual singles with a 3 and 3 win over Angel Diankov and Val Banada improved to 2-1 with his win at No. 2, but it wasn't enough as NC State fell to Virginia Tech, 5-2 on February 8. Banada is 2-0 at No. 2 this season, defeating Soren Spanner 6-4, 7-6(8) to pick up one of the two Wolfpack points. NC State lost the doubles point for the first time this season, losing in all three matches, though No. 2 and No. 3 doubles went down to the wire.
Freshman Ryan Johnson and first year junior Conor Taylor narrowly lost 8-6 at No. 3, while Banada/Iriarte were up a break in their No. 2 match before falling.
In singles, Jon Davis was close to forcing a third set at No. 6, falling in the tiebreak of the second set. Conor Taylor fell 6-2 in the first set of his match at No. 1 to Andreas Laulund, before rebounding with a decisive second set win, 6-2. Despite being up a break in the third set, Taylor would fall 6-2.
Will Shaw lost in straight sets at No. 2, while Dennis Myers found the same fate at No. 5.
